Research and our own in-school evaluation show us that children attain better when they are in class with an ‘expert’ teacher. Rosendale Primary School has a number of Lead Practitioners who are outstanding classroom teachers. They are the school’s ‘experts’. Lesson Study – A Case Study

Rosendale Primary has worked in partnership with the IOE for 4 years, training teachers across London in how to run Lesson Study. Lesson Study is a highly specified form of classroom action research focusing on the development of pedagogy via the close scrutiny of student actions. It has been in use in Japan since the 1870s. Lesson Study involves groups of teachers collaboratively planning, teaching, observing and analysing learning and teaching in ‘research lessons’. Over a cycle, they make refinements to pedagogy which are then tested by others. […]
